Multi-award-winning blacksmith Dan Davie, founder of Metal Masterpieces, is the creator of hand-forged sculptures and metal artworks – from knives, trophies and swords to balustrades, gates and larger than life sculptures, seen in key locations throughout the Gympie region and beyond.
A TWO-TIME WORLD CHAMPION creative blacksmith and THREE-TIME RUNNER-UP at World Championships in Canada, his achievements have showcased our region on the global stage. Added to this, Dan has won numerous significant major Australian creative blacksmithing awards.
AND NOT ONLY THAT! He is Gympie’s Citizen of the Year, 2025, awarded for unwavering commitment to the local community.
DAN’S “FORGE AHEAD” PROGRAM
Through his mentorship programs, such as the “Forge Ahead” initiative for at-risk youths, and his various volunteering efforts, Dan continues to empower the next generation in our community.
At the Fair, you’ll see Dan in his element, mentoring and guiding youths as they create pieces, hard at work on forges and anvils onsite. The flame, the sparks, the pounding of red hot steel is quite the spectacle!
