MUDJIMBA SPOONSMITH

It has taken years – and well over 1000 spoons – to develop the carving skills that Danny Holmes has today.

Danny, Mudjimba Woodcraft, is a passionate greenwood spoon carving teacher dedicated to preserving this traditional craft. Through hand-tool-only workshops, he teaches the art of carving wooden spoons using the same timeless methods that have been practiced for hundreds of years.

Born and raised in the UK, Danny moved to Australia in 2002 and now lives in Mudjimba on Queensland’s beautiful Sunshine Coast. As a dedicated green woodworker who predominantly carves spoons, he uses only locally sourced timber and traditional hand tools to create a range of handcrafted pieces, characterised by swooping handles and continuous flowing lines from tip to tail.
